This is my easy go to Japanese Steak house, it's also one of the closest to my house so that helps. It's a bit cheaper than the others in town and generally meets the standard.
The food is generally very good. Standard cook in front of you meals come with soup, salad, shrimp app, vegetables, fried rice, protein of choice, and some glazed pineapples to finish. I usually get the grouper special which runs around $14, but come with two huge filets, cooked in layers of butter, but I have had various chicken, steak, or shrimp before and they are also good. They offer tons of sauce; white, ginger, hot, hot mustard and probably others if you asked.
Definitely get the house dressing on the salad, the ginger dressing is like a weird Catalina style dressing and way too sweet. The house dressing is amazing, not even sure what's in it, but it's fantastic.
Some cooks are obviously better than others, but all are competent. On busy nights, drink service can be slow as well as waiting for a chef after soup and salad, but usually it's not an issue. The show is not a fancy or dazzling as others, 1 or 2 tricks and not much comedy from the chef. The decor inside is dated and could use a makeover.
The best thing about this place is the value for food. The food is a huge portion for a moderate price, especially the grouper special. -

I have mixed feelings about this place. The people are nice, and the food was very good. They give you large portions too.
That said, I alway feel like I'm swimming through the humid air. I don't think that's really their fault. The place is like one giant stove. It just comes with the atmosphere
I wouldn't give any of the 'cook in front of you' atmosphere Japanese food places higher than a three. Because of that, if you want to go to one, I would like to suggest this place. The people are nice, and so are the people who work there. The food is good, and there are less lines here than other Japanese' cook in front of you' places. -

We go to Sapporo every couple of months. The last time was in January. Fried rice used to be my favorite part! However, in January it tasted old and stale as if the rice was made several days prior, refrigerated and then made up for us those fried rice! It was pretty awful. If not for that, I would give them a five!

To everyone who reads this I'm from New York and the quality of Japanese food there is a joke. This place I've been going since I was 8 and the amount of food they give for your money is amazing. And if you don't believe me then come to New York and try our version of Japanese food trust me you'll be disappointed at how much you get for what you spend.

Made a reservation and was seated on time. The food is good, not fantastic. Salad was drenched in dressing and mostly mush, soup was bland, fried rice lacked and was just so-so. The filet however was cooked perfect and was good beef. You have plenty of dipping sauces to choose from which is nice. My one grip is that once seated it took forever for the chef to begin. They seem to lack enough chefs and yet keep filling all the tables where customers sit waiting unusually long. The chefs also do not do any spectacular tricks while cooking at all, except for a tiny onion Volcano. Disappointed in the entertainment missing from a Hibachi grill, atmosphere is just meh, but food is good.
